Drawing from the grandeur of Italian loggias with arched colonnades plus bordered checkerboard marble floors and subtle organic antipodean references, a warehouse of modest proportions was transformed into a gestural expression of arched volumes and tactile finishes for Australia’s leading home accessories brand, Cultiver.

Holding pattern, a rich tapestry of tourmaline-hued stones add an aged legacy to the ground level. Upon closer inspection each veined ‘tile’ is hand-painted on a poured concrete base, with trompe-l’oeil grouting binding them.

Responding to Cultiver’s socially responsible fabric selection process, one kitchen features a custom impasto splashback bearing a textured imprint of native tree leaves. A leaf motif also appears in vintage glass wall sconces dotting the stairway to the offices. Warm to the touch, its handrail is entwined in soft leather, ushering engagement with the ranges displayed aloft.

Shouldered arches replace the severity of the original right-angled returns. Upon one, fine hand-drawn pinstripes add depth to its margins whilst acknowledging the delicate Cedar Stripe design on a selection of the company’s linen pieces.

Domestic vignettes are gently framed via recessed arches and partial height walls that dually act as display ledges with goods at arm’s reach.
