Mixing eccentric materials with trippy nature scenes, YSG puts a fantastical, Lynchian twist on a home’s lush NSW South Coast location, which makes the familiar seem surreal.
FREYA HERRING, VOGUE LIVING

Plantasia is a fictional diorama nestled amongst rolling hills sprinkled with citrus gardens. It’s a ‘choose your own adventure’ kind of pad where curiosities lure the eye from room to room, including a salon hang of miscellaneous treasures in the dining area.

Sprouting from cushioned cork floors, nature flourishes upon walls and ceilings, with flora and fauna wallpaper adorning surfaces. Stripes, gingham and shimmering tile grids offset the organic order with off-kilter tension, while bedrooms take on broodier sentiments.

Victoriana elements including table skirts and frilled lampshades plus the entry vestibule’s ornately carved joinery add period drama with a utopian flair via distorted scale and bold tones.

It’s hard not to succumb to a zesty tingle of delight when you spot the sherbet yellow Rockwell bathtub perched beneath a cascading canopy of citrus fruits.
